corruption is an act (or inaction) committed by a person authorized to perform state functions or a person equated to them, using their official position and the opportunities it provides to illegally obtain material or non-material benefits, advantages, or other privileges for their own benefit or the benefit of another person. It also includes directly or indirectly providing such benefits, advantages, or privileges to subjects of corruption-related offenses to induce or reward them for committing such acts in the interests of an individual or legal entity (Article 1 of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Combating Corruption").

A conflict of interest is a situation of personal interest of subjects of corruption-related offenses that, during the performance of their duties, may lead to the commission of corrupt offenses and cause harm to the interests of an individual, legal entity, society, and the state (Article 1 of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Combating Corruption").
The use of an official position refers to the one-time, repeated, or systematic use of state functions and the opportunities they provide, as well as establishing stable connections with one or more persons authorized to perform state functions or persons equated to them, with an individual or group for the purposes specified in the first paragraph of this article, which pose a threat or cause harm to the interests of an individual, the state, and society (Article 1 of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Combating Corruption").
If an official, an official of a foreign state, or an official of an international organization extorted a bribe, or if the person who gave the bribe voluntarily reports it to an authority entitled to initiate a criminal case, they are exempt from criminal liability (Note to Part 1 of Article 320 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan).
